1. Data Controller

South London Trades operates the website southlondontrades.co.uk. For any questions about this privacy policy or how we handle your data, contact us at hello@southlondontrades.co.uk.

2. Data We Collect

We collect personal data that you voluntarily provide when using our services:

  • Lead capture form: name, email address, phone number, and details of the work required.
  • Business submission form: business name, contact name, email address, phone number, website URL, business description, areas served, and trade category.
  • Payment information: when you subscribe to a featured listing, payment details are collected and processed directly by Stripe. We do not store your card details.

We also display publicly available business data sourced from Google Maps, including business name, address, phone number, ratings, and reviews.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect for the following purposes:

  • To connect homeowners with tradespeople by forwarding enquiries.
  • To create and manage business listings on the directory.
  • To process payments for featured listings.
  • To respond to your enquiries and provide customer support.
  • To improve and maintain the website.

Our lawful basis for processing under UK GDPR is legitimate interest (connecting homeowners with tradespeople) and, where applicable, performance of a contract (featured listing subscriptions).

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the website. Each processes data in accordance with their own privacy policies:

  • Formspree -- form submission handling. Data is transmitted to Formspree servers when you submit a form.
  • Airtable -- data storage for business submissions and enquiries.
  • Stripe -- payment processing for featured listing subscriptions. Stripe handles all card data directly and is PCI DSS compliant.
  • Vercel -- website hosting and deployment.
  • Google Maps -- source of publicly available business data displayed on the site.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected. Lead enquiry data is retained for up to 12 months. Business listing data is retained for as long as the listing is active. Payment records are retained as required by law. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

6. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure: request deletion of your personal data where there is no compelling reason for continued processing.
